The Water Facilitation Focus
Background
Rural Water Development-Trans-Mara (RWD-TM) mainly tackled diocesan Water and Sanitation interventions up to the year 2005. Due to increased need for water interventions in the whole of the Diocese coverage area which goes beyond Trans-Mara district, (Includes also Narok North and South, Kajiado (north & central) and Loitokitok Districts), it became necessary to establish a Water Program at the Diocese Secretariat which was done in January 2006.
The Diocese through the Program has continued to support and empower rural communities in the six Districts to improve their access to water and Sanitation of better quality, conserve their water resources and utilize them as the gateway to improvement of their economic livelihoods. The key approach used by the Diocese in provision of Watsan services is the Demand Responsive Approach (DRA).
The Program has also partnered with the Water Resources management Authority and Water services Boards in the provision of the Watsan services to the communities. New methods of community approach have been adopted from the water boards and water authorities’ i.e. CPC and WDC process of community involvement.  The Diocese has in the last five years assisted successfully more than 30 communities implement Water projects through own funding and Partners.
