To facilitate the Social economic empowerment of the pastoralists and other marginalized groups within the CDON for the attainment of better livelihoods.

Overall goal
Pastoralists and other marginalized groups in the Diocese of Ngong are empowered from negative socio-economic effects of conflicts, drought, food insecurity, preventable/communicable diseases and HIV/AIDS are alleviated and target groups have benefited from participatory, sustainable, integrated services provided through the Diocesan social programmes
CDON will pursue the following objectives:
- To improve the health status of the pastoralists and other marginalised communities through provision of affordable curative services and primary health education.
- To strengthen the livelihoods and incomes of the pastoralists and other marginalised communities in the Diocese through : access to markets , crop and livestock production and access to financial services
- To reduce the negative effects of drought by undertaking environmental conservation measures and increased access to quality water and appropriate sanitation.
- To empower communities to raise and address issues of injustice.
- An estimated 1,200 people have been assisted with credit amounting to KES 10 million for starting and expanding their businesses which are either on farm or off farm activities. A savings culture is slowly solidifying and as a result KES 7 million has been mobilised from members of Micro-finance program. Business enterprises have expanded and created employment for owner managers and other people.
- Household food security has improved in targeted areas through promotion of agriculture and livestock activities. The effects of drought and famine have tremendously reduced.
- Through health education, communities have adopted health practices to reduce prevalence of diseases. They have also abandoned some cultural practices that pose risks to their health. As a result, diseases outbreak such as Malaria has tremendously reduced.
- Through Rural Water Program, some communities in Transmara district have been able to access clean drinking water.
- The communities are more aware of their rights and are reawakened to deal with injustices and engage in peace building activities for peaceful co-existence.
- Communities have been mobilised into groups and their capacities has been strengthened to act as effective initiators and implementers of development projects. A classical example is NACODEP which is an effective CBO in Narok district.
- Networking and collaboration in various initiatives i.e. drought etc.
