Pastoral Department Overview

This department coordinates the pastoral activities in the Catholic Diocese of Ngong. The Department is coordinated by team of 8 members; the Pastoral Coordinator, Education Secretary, Marriage & family life Coordinator, Catechetical Coordinator, Lay apostolate Coordinator, Youth Coordinator, and an Administrative Secretary.

Under this department are various programmes which include:

THEMATIC AREAS

The main goal of the Diocesan Pastoral Department is "Compelled by the love of Christ to evangelize, uphold the value and dignity of every human being by speaking the truth in love."

1. Evangelisation and Spiritual Renewal

• Proclaim the Gospel to all people within the Catholic Diocese of Ngong
• Promote Catholic Doctrine and Social Teaching in order to contribute positively to the mission of Christ
• Promote a church which is Self- evangelizing, self- ministering and self- sustaining

2. Parish Renewal

• Foster a spirit of life-giving celebration in liturgy and the Sacraments
• Enhance spiritual on-going formation, leadership training and Christian empowerment
• Nurturing peaceful community life and co-existence in our parishes and organisations, while promoting unity and co-operation

3. Marriage and Family Life

• Nurture marriage and family life as the domestic Church
• Promote family life as an agent of evangelisation
• Promote the dignity and sacredness of human life
• Foster chastity and holiness of human sexuality,

4. Pastoral care, Social Welfare and Health Care

• Promote social justice and support people who are disadvantaged, distressed or marginalized
• Enhance our commitment to pastoral care particularly through those organizations and agencies whose special mandate is ministry to the poor and needy

5. Ministering the young people

• Initiate Catholic programmes for young people to encourage their participation in and contribution to the life of the Church and fostering missionary spirit.

6. Catholic education

• Promote the various forms of catholic educational to enable people to grow in their faith and attain the fulfilled lives in Christ.
