Ngong Development Cluster
Ngong Development Cluster is made up of 13 parishes (zones) namely; Ngong, Matasia, Noonkopirr, Matasia, Embulbul,Ewuaso O Kidong'i, Ong'ata Rongai, Nkoroi, Kiserian, Magadi, Kajiado, Namanga and Kandisi. It is headquartered in Kiserian Parish which was established in 1956. The Cluster also hosts the Diocesan Secretariat at Bishop's house. It has a population of 274,958 according to the 1999 national population census.
Key problems facing the target population include frequent droughts, water scarcity, food insecurity, rapid urbanization and environmental degradation. Insecure livelihoods have become a norm for the poor Maasai population inhabiting this area.
According to the Needs Assessment undertaken in the Development Cluster priority interventions includes access to water and health, human and children rights, governance issues, HIV/AIDS with special concerns in HBC and OVC, environmental concerns, drought cycle management, youth and women livelihoods.
